Welcome to the farm

What we’re up to - 3/19

We’re waiting for laaaaambs!!

This is the most stressful (and joyous) time of year. Lambing season started for us on 3/12. This was the earliest possible date we could have lambs arrived based on breeding group dates. Fortunately, the ladies don’t often have early babies, so we think things will be getting busy closer to 3/20. Everyone is VERY grumpy and VERY pregnant so there are a fair number of disagreements - especially at the feeders - but once the ewes start popping out their kiddos and are moved to the lambing pens, there will be more space for all.

Fun fact: Icelandic sheep have a relatively short gestation period for sheep (143 days), while Shetlands usually take around 147 days (but up to 152).

We have seven (!) new moms this year, so fingers crossed for a safe and simple lambing season.

get to know the flock

We believe in sustainable agriculture and living for all. For us, happy sheep are at the heart of that.

With so much uncertainty in climate health and food security, knowledge sharing and community is more important than ever! We’re starting our farmstead journey with the mission to grow fiber, food, and minds.
