Meet the Flock - The Icelandics
-
Skaga
Skaga is a moorit spotted Icelandic ewe and one of our lambassadors. She loves loves loves pets, especially chin scritches, and her nickname is Wide-Load. Her fleece isn’t too soft, but she lambs incredible babies.
Fun fact: Skaga might look constantly pregnant, but she comes directly from Icelandic genes and just has a classic large primitive rumen!
-
Gola
Sweet lady Gola is a moorit mouflon ewe. She’s polled (has no horns) and regularly lambs triplets! Despite that, she’s a fabulous mama and has no issue feeding her babies. Her favorite food is apples (she’ll climb you for one) and her fleece is shorter but very soft.
Fun fact: Gola LOVES beer. She’ll try to take yours from you if she sees the can.
-
Lotra
Lotra is a STUNNING black mouflon spotted ewe. She grows one of the most beautiful and classic fleeces and we’re very excited to continue her lineage. Her favorite food is apples, and she’s can seem a little standoffish, but she’s just got things to do.
Fun fact: Lotra has striped horns!
-
Magda
Magda is the daughter of Skaga and is a black spotted ewe. She is spunky and extremely friendly, just like her mama! You’ll often be in the pasture and feel something brush your leg, only to find her happy little face staring up at you. Magda has a beautiful white curly fleece that’s very soft.
Fun fact: Sometimes Magda will chase around the other ewes, just for fun (or to be a bitch).
-
Leif
Our sweet tank - Leif! Leif is a black-badgerface ram, with a stunning set of spiral horns. He is kind and a little dumb, and mostly just wants to hang out with the other rams or lay with both of his feet sticking straight out in front of him like a goober. Leif has a very soft fleece for a ram and he’s a darling boy.
Fun fact: When Leif was a baby he was beaten up by some rams from his cohort and ended up with a permanently crooked neck. It doesn’t bother him though, or the ladies!
-
Valiant
Valiant is a stoic ram, and very proud (as he should be). He’s calm and sweet, but sometimes a grumpy man and will stop is foot at you if he doesn’t know you. He’s got a beautiful solid black fleece and makes incredible babies, and he and Leif are thick as thieves and spend all their time together.
Fun fact: Valiant’s horns are actually not horns at all, but scurs! These are undeveloped horns that aren’t fully attached to the skull. He doesn’t use his for headbutting much though, so we don’t worry about them.
-
Plokka
Plokka is a solid black ewe. She’s a curious gal - always wants to know what you’re up to - but doesn’t really want many pets unless you’ve got apples or pumpkin. She’s very brave and often the first to try something new or stand her ground.
Fun fact: Plokka’s fleece smells stronger than most ewes, more ram-ey, but also smells like Strawberry Jam! We have no idea why!
-
Effion
Baa-baa brown sheep! Effion (the E is silent) is a solid moorit ewe. She’s a troublemaker, but not in a sassy way… More in the kind of way where you want everyone to go left and she goes right, so everyone follows her. Her fleece is shorter but soft.
Fun fact: Effion is our oldest sheep and was born in the spring of 2017!
-
Mola
Mola is a polled mouflon spotted ewe and has a long lustrous fleece, definitely the best of both of her parents! Mola isn’t a friendly sheep and keeps to herself, but that’s ok. She used to be pretty wild as a yearling but has calmed way down and now will approach for apples.
Fun fact: Mola is the daughter of Gola and Valiant and was a triplet!
