Premium Icelandic Roving

from $10.00

Our premium roving is carded from the dual-coated fleece of our very own Icelandic sheep, blending the soft thel with the strong tog for the perfect balance of loft and durability. Light, airy, and smooth to the touch, it drafts beautifully with a long staple length for spinning (and it felts with ease)! This is our wool at its finest—heritage fiber prepared with care, ready to become something truly lovely and special in your hands.

This roving is fantastic for beginning spinners - it’s our favorite for drop spindle!

Specs:

  • 50g (1.7 oz) or 100g (3.5oz.) hanks

  • 100% pasture raised, heritage Icelandic wool, grown by our very own flock in Bellingham, WA

  • Carded roving, milled for us by Skagit Woolen Works on their 1922 Davis & Furber industrial carder named 'Rosie'

Please buy as much as you need for your project. Each batch of roving is unique both in color and texture (just like our sheep at each shearing)!

We recommend a low spin on our roving, if you choose to spin it. A tighter spin can make the tog poke out of the yarn, resulting in a more scratchy finished product.

We’re so excited to have been included as the yarn for Sari Nordland’s pattern, the Ballard Beanie! That pattern takes a little more than 2 skeins of our yarn, but you can also spin your own yarn for this pattern using our Icelandic roving.
